“Mixed Martial Arts”, a combat sport in which the aim is to win a match by knock out or submission. Kokoro Mixed Martial Arts sport specific training style is proving more and more popular throughout Europe. Shane’s just back from Nice, France, where he was invited to share his training ideas with some some of France’s most respected MMA, Thai, Judo & Sambo coaches and champions. Banging the “sport specific drum” has never been more fun!

Kokoro’s brand of Mixed Martial Arts was developed to set a solid foundation that allows fighters of all backgrounds to grow and progress within the sport. This theory was put to the test on the weekend when fighters of various styles and wide ranging experience levels took part in Shane’s workshop at Villeneuve-Loubet. The seminar was broken up into three modules; Striking for MMA, Clinch for MMA & Ground for MMA. Giving one hour to each range – participants absorbed the content at an astonishing rate.

Had a cracking time at the submissions workshop today. It’s amazing how quickly everybody manages to pick this stuff up. Thanks for heading down!

Makes me wish I was 20 years younger watching you lot learn at warp speed! Solid fundamental submissions and transitions from/to side and mount position, top and bottom. Hope you enjoyed yourself as much as I did lads and see you all in part two (guard and back) at some point later in the year!

Leaving Kokoro Gym at 15:00 sharp on Friday. Training camp is taking place in the EFR Gym, Shanes Castle Estate, Randalstown Road, Antrim. We’ll be sleeping in the gym, so bring your sleeping bag/pillow/tent/teddy bear/clean kaks/lightsabre etc. Total cost of the weekend is ST£120, less the deposit already paid.

Obviously, you’ll also need whatever training gear you can haul up with you; boxing gloves, mma gloves, shinpads, groin guard, mouth guard, and so on.
