Congratulations in Order: Promotions Well Deserved Following Spring ‘09 Assessment

The Kokoro Spring Grading 2009 went off without a hitch today. It was a real pleasure to see so many give everything they have for the sport we all love! Putting striking, dirty boxing, takedowns, submissions and ground ‘n pound to work over a three hour period is no small task – particularly when you know your performance is being assessed. Promotions and shirts were well earned today!

Judging by this pic, taken within minutes of the final sparring matches of the day, everyone seems to have enjoyed themselves.
Thanks to everyone for putting so much effort in and helping bring Kokoro to where it is today. Particular thanks to the parents that gave up their afternoon to supervise the youth gradings.
Here goes with the promotions… …looking forward to a sea of Kokoro shirts in training next week!

Yeah a great day, super effort from everyone. Now to spend the rest of the weekend explaining my black eye to people
Congrats Guys! Everyone’s looking very pleased and quite rightly so!
Copy and paste what LOUIS said and apply it to me. I told you you had a bit of a lump!!
So many things hurt this morning. Even my blood hurts!
The best thing about our gym is the people! There is no ” i ” in Kokoro. I think.
And if we were voting for stand out person of the day I’d vote for Mike McCaffrey.
We need a lot more quality small guys in the gym and he’s one of them. (Too many big guys. Hate you big guys)
Any one else feel like they got hit by a bus.. I think Johnny “i like to hurt people” Bowden was drivin
Seconded on Mike McCaffrey. Awesome performance. Trains like a machine, works hard and just had a baby too! Busy boy yet still manages to turn in a really great performance. Hats off to him!
Yesterday was a great day. Congrats to everyone that graded. Thanks to all the lads that sparred with me. I’m certainly feeling the pains of it today. Thanks Shane and Derek for the kind words. All credit needs to go to our top class trainer and the excellent sparring all the lads have given me over the last few month.
EDIT: Just re-read this post and its starting to look like an Oscar acceptance speech!!
OSU!!
We couldn’t afford the real thing… but…
Hah! If we’d had one – you’d have got one mate. And well deserved too.
