Congratulations to Shihan Semmy Schilt on Making K-1 History!
In August this year, the lads from Kokoro had the pleasure of training for a week with Semmy in Croatia. It’s hard to appreciate the size, speed and technical proficiency of the guy until you train with him. TV just doesn’t do him justice (as the lads discovered).
This weekend, Semmy proved to the world (once again!) that he is a phenomenon of fight sports by winning the K-1 World Grand Prix for the THIRD TIME IN A ROW against the best of the best! Unprecedented!

Look closely; there’s Hanshi Jonkers and Kancho Kuipers behind him calling the world to let them know the result.
“I’m very glad to win tonight and to make history by winning the Championship three years in a row,” said a beaming Semmy in his post-tournament interview. “It was a good final, there were no easy fights. I think the first fight [against Feitosa] was the hardest, but the first fight is always the most difficult, it decides what happens in the other fights.”
Semmy took on legends Aerts and LeBanner on the same night to win the tournament. Fantastic! Congratulations from Kokoro Shihan! OSU!

I haven’t had a chance to watch this event yet, it was a hectic weekend for combat sports! I have tonnes of respect for Schilt, he’s fantastic. I love to watch Remy and LeBanner too, Remy would be my favourite. As much as I respect this achievement (3 K1 titles!), I still want to see Schilt back in MMA and focusing his training on the all round fighting aspects. Who wouldn’t want to see a rematch between Schilt and Fedor?
Absolutely. From what I can tell though; the way things were handled by PrideFC at the time were umm… “interesting”. Not sure that Sem has any interest in All Round Fighting at this stage. Pity though; he’s a FANTASTIC all round fighter.
Thought you might find this of interest Kev: http://www.mmauniverse.com/news/SS2345
