Dublin Submissions Tournament - 13th October, 2007

The date for the Dublin Open Submissions Tournament is now officially set. There’s been some confusion but the Tournament will be held on 13th October, 2007.

We’ve four people scheduled to participate in the Novice section. However, we’ll now need to recheck availability based on the new date (the adult division was previously advertised for 14th October). We’ll keep you all posted as soon as we’ve checked availability.

Weigh Ins: 10:00
Competition 11:00

RULES

Weight Categories:
62, 68, 75, 83, 92, +92

(all weights are in KG and are UNDER the weight stated, i.e. under 75 means that at 74.9Kg you qualify for that weight category, at 75.0 you are in under 83Kgs)

Skill Divisions:
Novice
Intermediate
Advanced.

To progress from Novice to Inter to Advanced you must take gold or silver in your division. You can step up a division or start competing at a higher division but in doing so you cannot drop down. E.G. If you decide to compete at Intermediate in the Dublin Open at future Sub Championships Ireland events you cannot compete at Novice, even at another weight category.

Wins by submission only. 3 points for a win, 1 for a draw, 0 for a loss.

Round robin system in effect - compete against everyone in your weight/skill class.

Round Times:
Novice, 4 minutes. Inter/Adv, 5 minutes

Fouls:
Passivity, defined as any stalling or lack of effort to progress and win the fight.
Striking
Talking: Competitors can not speak during matches. They can communicate to the ref, but cannot communicate to their opponent/their corner.
Heel hooks/twisting knee attacks - forbidden in all categories
Footlocks - forbidden in novice. straight footlocks/kneebars/toe holds allowed at Inter/Advanced.
Neck attacks - forbidden in all categories, includes slamming out of triangles/armbars from guard
Unsportsmanlike behaviour - referees discretion.

Attire:
Any non abrasive attire can be worn. Note that any attire worn can be grabbed, with the exception of protective equipment (e.g. knee pads/earguards)

    We’re now down to three. Leo has a valid excuse for pulling out. He got hit by a car!!!!!
    Anyone fancy replacing him? Oh… yeah… and er… um… get well soon Leo! :D
