UFC Reject Randy Couture’s Resignation : Video
It definitely seemed odd that Randy “resigned” from the UFC when you consider that fighters are under contract. It’s not a job; you can’t just “resign”. You fullfill the terms of the contract (in Randy’s case - do two more fights) or you’re in breach of that contract. Dana White has rejected Randy’s resignation.
Here’s the video. What do you think? Should Randy be allowed to just walk away? Is his agent just building up the name of Randy Couture before his movie release when, in fact, Randy has no intention of resigning?

yeah just a smoke screen…big pr stint for his movie
Bit disappointed in Randy about all this, whether it’s a stunt or not. Never thought I’d see him complain over money.
My understanding of Randy’s understanding is that he feels he is contracted for 18 months for 4 fights. Those 4 fights must occur within those 18 months. So In 9 months time when the 18 months expire, he should be free from the contract. I’m sure Dana has a different spin on it.
Randy also said that it’s usual practice for a big name fighter (RAndy, Matt Hughes, Chuck, Tito (he didn’t name these people himself, I’m putting them in for reference) to get a contracted sum per fight, possibly a win bonus, possibly a % PPV and at the bosses discretion, a brown envelope. Apparently he got a brown envelope for his 3 previous fights but didn’t for Gabe Gonzage. He didn’t state how much they were but he gave me the impression they were significantly large, possible equal to or not more to the sum the athletic commission gives us.
Hmmm… I suppose we’ll not know until the thing plays out to the end. You can never trust a word that comes out of Dana’s mouth and Randy’s embarking on a Movie career. Dana claims he can prove that Randy got his “envelope” though: http://www.mmafightline.com/news/2007/1025/dana_white_306579.shtml
