A STRUCTURED SCHEDULE TO SUIT EVERYONE

Kokoro Mixed Martial Arts offer an extensive and varied schedule of training to suit everyone – regardless of age, fitness or experience level. If you’d like to put yourself to the test, then please contact us and we’ll arrange try out sessions (free of charge).

NEW STARTERS AND THOSE WITH LITTLE OR NO EXPERIENCE

We love introducing people to this fantastic sport and are particularly focused on working with beginners and introducing new people to the fundamentals. Our ROOKIE training program has been specifically developed for those that are new to KOKORO and/or Mixed Martial Arts.

TIER 1: ROOKIE
This course is all about “learning by doing”. Those with little or no previous experience in Mixed Martial Arts training will find themselves at home here. This twelve week cyclical programme covers all aspects of mixed martial arts training. Everyone starts here and this is where we introduce ourselves to some of the fundamental concepts involved in MMA training. In this course we meet the three ranges of MMA (Standup, Clinch & Ground).

As ROOKIEs we get to know the fundamental elements of TAG ‘N’ TAP. This sport specific method of Mixed Martial Arts training was developed by KOKORO as the result of many thousands of hours on the mats, in the ring and in the cage. It’s an approach with proven results and consists of three core systems; SMASH & BLAST, SMASH & CRASH and SMASH & GRAB. This system has proven itself on the mats and in the cages both nationally and internationally.

THOSE WITH EXPERIENCE

When it’s time to take training to another level and put our skills to the test – our PRACTISE and CORE programs are 100% up for the job. These programs ensure a practical ability to apply learned techniques and concepts with fully resisting partners. Our PRACTISE and CORE programs cater for those with solid experience in fully resistive striking and grappling arts and graduates of the ROOKIE program.

TIER 2: PRACTISE
Our practise (sparring) sessions are open to all members with a safe technical base (subject to coaches approval). As a saftey mechanism to protect beginners and those with less experience of resistive sparring, those new to KOKORO training practises are not permitted to participate in PRACTISE, until coach is satisfied that they are able to participate in a controlled and progressive manner. This all but ensures a safety net for those that are new to the sport or are of limited experience.

Once the necessary base level skills are in place however, the PRACTISE program becomes an essential development tool. To truly progress in the sport of Mixed Martial Arts, we need to put ourselves to the test in the gym and experience working with solid levels of contact and resistance. These practise sessions serve as a further step toward progressing into the ring or cage. We ensure that everyone gets the most out of sparring (i.e. that the participants functional ability consistently improves) by means of the TAG ‘N’ TAP PROGRESSIVE RESISTANCE APPROACH. Sparring progresses methodically from low levels of resistance up to 100% full contact for those that are skilled enough to handle it.

TIER 3: CORE
As graduates of ROOKIE program, we’re now familiar with the fundamental elements of the KOKORO TAG ‘N’ TAP method. CORE is our next structured quarterly training plan, designed to ensure that members systematically acquire and maintain the Core Concepts, Core Techniques and Core Training methods required for progression and success in the sport of Mixed Martial Arts.

CORE is 100% sport specific with absolute focus on the sport of Mixed Martial Arts. It’s suited to graduates of the ROOKIE program and/or those with extensive relevant combat sports experience.

Spaces are limited on all our courses and we frequently operate a waiting list. Contact us to find out what’s available.

FIGHTERS

Our experienced coaching team, tiered training structure and varied schedule allows us to easily cater for the more experienced athlete. Those who already have a background in MMA, full contact striking or submission grappling will find themselves at home with KOKORO.

We’ll do a thorough level assessment and determine whether an athlete will benefit from training with directly with our more experienced members and/or tailor a schedule specifically to suit individual needs. A personal program training can be arranged to suit those with experience in a single element of MMA (eg. grappling or striking).

TIER 4: COMPETITION READINESS
The KOKORO COMPETITION READINESS program is by invitation only and is our “trade secret”. Fighters, title holders and contenders from Kokoro and gyms throughout Ireland and Europe regularly participate in our Competition Readiness Programme when preparing for the cage.

If we’re looking to compete then this program puts us to the test. We earn our place in this group. There’s no better way to find out if we’re ready to step into the cage – period.

PRIVATE TRAINING

Private instruction is available by arrangement. This can serve as a great supplement to group training or as an option for those that would prefer to get started on a one-2-one basis. Personal Training Sessions focus on the athletic, technical and academic aspects of Mixed Martial Arts. These sessions are 100% tailored to the needs of the participant.
