WIMAAO Title Fight Cancelled (Spartan 5)
Two counts of bad news for all that were looking forward to seeing Shane Thomas and Kevin Carney square off at Spartan 5. Shane received a call today from Marty Walker (Spartan Promoter) to inform him that, due to urgent medical concerns, Kevin is unable to defend his Title at Spartan 5 on Saturday.
Shane was very much looking forward to challenging for the title on Saturday and is certainly disappointed. However, he’s more concerned for Kevin’s health and wishes Kevin a speedy recovery. Walker has assured Shane that Carney vs. Thomas will happen at the next available opportunity.
It seems that Carney vs. Thomas may well be a jinxed fight. They’ve missed each other due to injury and schedule conflicts for over two years at this stage.
We’re disappointed that the fight is not to be on Saturday and know that the scores of Kokoro members who bought tickets are going to be disappointed too. Right now though, our thoughts are with Kevin and we hope he’ll be back to full health soon.
Kokoro members that have purchased a show ticket solely to watch this title fight can return their ticket to Kokoro Gym for a full refund. Of course, all purchased tickets are still valid and it promises to be a great show. We hope those that have bought a ticket will choose to support the national MMA scene by attending the show despite the cancellation of this match!

Ah man that sucks balls! i’d say your sick as a plane to Lourdes.As much as i’d like to support the mma scene i won’t be making the journey seeing as your not fighting.Your day will come.Osu
Condolences mate!Probably the most prepared and focused i’ve ever seen you mate.I feel for you but it only delays the inevitable of the title coming to kokoro.I was struggling to make it to Ballymena myself as it was but now I won’t be heading up seeing as you are not fighting.
Wow. This fight is definitely not meant to be. Gutted for you Shane. I know you’re gonna be tempted but stay away from the Pizza. Keep yourself in great shape and kick someone elses arse in the mean time.
Cant believe thefights cancelled i really couldnt wait to see th master in action and bring back the belt to kokoro…i see the bus is cancelled now so i wont be heading up now.
Sorry about the bus paul, we spent most morning trying get the price down to suit the no’s & when we heard fight was cancelled didn’t think there was much point going ahead with it, sorry man

I think Dereks advice is very good, as ready as you were this time you now have a very good platform to spring to greater heights. I see this as more time for you to get even better mate.
Thanks for kind words guys. Have no fear; I’m not planning on going backwards. Will continue to train the next four weeks and plan to stay in shape on holidays. Hopefully, we’ll get to do this at some point in the near future.
